BENEFITS
• Epsom salt (i.e. magnesium sulphate)
is used to build up soil magnesium levels
according to soil testing when potassium
and calcium levels are high. Alternate the
frequent applications of epsom salt with
the standard maintenance programme. Allow
an interval of one week between each application
of epsom salt and the standard fertilizer
programme.
• Magnesium is an important cation
for turf growth. Its deficiency, particularly
when soil potassium and calcium are high,
leads to growth problems because magnesium
is essential for chlorophyll synthesis,
turf respiration, phosphorus translocation
and the activities of several turf enzymes.
